Liverpool look to have beaten rivals Man Utd to the signing of a £107m Germany attacker, while Tottenham and Arsenal are battling for a LaLiga defender, according to Thursday’s newspapers.

LIVERPOOL CLOSING IN ON £107M GERMANY STAR

Liverpool have reportedly leapfrogged Manchester United in the race to sign £107million Bayer Leverkusen attacker Kai Havertz, with talks already taking place over a deal.

The 20-year-old Germany international has gone from strength to strength since making his senior debut for the Bundesliga outfit in 2016.

The Reds now lead Manchester United, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the race to sign Havertz, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, via the Daily Express.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have reportedly been in touch with Leverkusen representatives over a possible summer switch, with a deal highly unlikely to be done this month.

The attacking midfielder has notched three goals and supplied one assist in 21 appearances this season, while he has 31 goals and 23 assists in 126 matches since bursting onto the scene as a 17-year-old.

Havertz has also earned seven senior caps for Germany and scored his first goal for his country in a friendly against Argentina in October.

The young attacker is being viewed as a replacement for veteran midfielder Adam Lallana at Anfield, with the 31-year-old’s contract running out in June.
