Juan Mata: Manchester United midfielder linked with West Ham

West Ham have made an enquiry about Juan Mata and Liverpool have switched left-back targets and now want Kieran Gibbs.

West Ham are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata this summer, according to a report in Spanish newspaper El Confidencial.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is understood to want the diminutive Spain international in his midfield next season and has made an enquiry about Mata’s availability.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be looking to offload him as well as Bastian Schweinsteiger as he looks to revamp United’s midfield for next season.

Bilic’s side face competition from La Liga though, with his former employers Valencia and Barcelona also linked with a move for the 28-year-old, who was bought from Chelsea for £37million in January 2014.

Liverpool are set to make a move for Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs, according to reports.

Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for another full-back and is not believed to be convinced by Alberto Moreno, whose defensive frailties were exposed in the Europa League final defeat by Sevilla.

Klopp has been tracking young Leicester full-back Ben Chilwell, but it is now thought he will opt for more experience and try to land Gunners star Gibbs.
According to Football Insider Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for the 26-year-old who lost his place in the Arsenal side last season to Nacho Monreal. Gibbs made 15 Premier League appearances last term, but he only started three league games and Arsene Wenger is believed to be willing to let the 10-cap England full-back move on.

The Lambeth-born defender has spent his entire career with the Gunners apart from a loan spell at Norwich City in 2007/08, but Gibbs might well jump at the chance of regular first-team football to get his career back on track.

Arsenal are “winning the £20million battle with Chelsea” to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to The Sun.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mkhitaryan, who has 12 months left on his current deal, prefers a move to The Emirates, the report claims, but north London rivals Tottenham are also interested.

Dortmund have been trying to tie the Armenia star to a new deal since the turn of the year, but the 27-year-old has yet to put pen to paper and a move away looks likely with the report suggesting he wants a deal worth around £85,000 a week.
