Dennis Praet: Midfielder set to leave Anderlecht

Liverpool are favourites to sign one of the most highly-rated talents in Europe, while Barcelona have joined a host of clubs interested in Riyad Mahrez, according to today’s papers.

Liverpool appear set to land midfield prodigy Denis Praet after Anderlecht chief executive Herman van Holsbeeck admitted the playmaker will leave the Belgian club in the summer, report The Sun.

Having signed Marko Grujic in January, Jurgen Klopp wants to continue to add young talent to his midfield ranks, as the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Lucas Leiva all offer similar qualities.

The Reds were linked with 21-year-old Praet, who has already won three league titles with the Brussels outfit, last month, but a move failed to materialise.

However, Van Holsbeeck said: “Dennis Praet will leave us at the end of the season. Dennis knows he has 15 games left to give his all for Anderlecht. Once they are over then we will find a club for him.”

Riyad Mahrez’s stunning form for Leicester City this season has caught the attention of Spanish giants Barcelona, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Algerian winger Mahrez is one of the main reasons the Foxes sit atop of the Premier League, after scoring 14 goals and assisting a further 10 in his 24 league starts this term.

Leicester are understood to be readying a new deal which would see the 25-year-old, who only signed a new four-year contract extension last summer, more than double his wages to £75,000-a-week.

And while they have managed to tie star striker Jamie Vardy down to a new long-term contract, the hierarchy at the King Power Stadium are resigned to losing Mahrez, who has been linked with some of the biggest names in Europe.
