Paul Pogba: Dined in LA

Manchester United have come to an agreement with Paul Pogba over his prospective contract while Tottenham plan to bolster their midfield, according to Thursday’s newspapers.

After The Guardian revealed that Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has met Paul Pogba’s agent, sources in Italy have suggested the details of the midfielder’s contract have now been agreed.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, everything is in place for the 23-year-old to return to Old Trafford and now Manchester United will focus on the next stage of the transfer – which is to agree a fee with Juventus.

With the arrival of Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund confirmed, Jose Mourinho now has just over a month before the start of the Premier League campaign to land his “fourth specialist” signing of the summer.

Tottenham’s frustrations in the transfer window look set to continue after Newcastle told the North London club that they would have splash out £25million if they want to sign Dutch international Georginio Wijnaldum.

The report in the Daily Mirror says the Championship outfit want to make a profit on the attacking midfielder, but Spurs are ready to explore other options unless the asking price is significantly lowered.

One alternative could be Wijnaldum’s team-mate Moussa Sissoko, according to the Daily Express, but his price tag at a reported £21.5million it appears that Newcastle are under no pressure to sell their star players as they try and make an immediate return to the Premier League.
