Paper Talk: Man Utd old boy trying to block Mourinho’s move for winger

Manchester United will try and sign Justin Kluivert this summer, while Spurs want two English defenders and will pay £30million for the pair, all in the papers.

Jose Mourinho is interested in Ajax winger Justin Kluivert, according to the Daily Mirror.

United have been linked with the son of Dutch legend Patrick previously with Calciomercato claiming in March that it was a straight battle between United and Barcelona for the signature of the 18-year-old.

Now the tabloid claim Kluivert, who faced United in last season’s Europa League final, is ready to turn his back on a new deal with Ajax with his contract set to expire in June 2019.

Former United keeper Edwin Van der Sar is the Ajax chief executive officer and desperately trying to keep the attacker and he is believed to have been offered him a new deal which will make him the club’s highest earner.

The report suggests the player’s agent Mino Raiola is however ready to entertain offers this summer.

Kluivert did play down a move in February though, he told Voetbal Inside : “The chances of me leaving are slim. I haven’t spoken to Jose Mourinho myself. I know as much as you do.

“Rumours are always there, but Manchester United has never come up, and I don’t think it’s a logical step. A few more years at Ajax? Who knows, we’ll see.”

Kluivert has scored 10 goals and earned five assists in 35 games for Ajax this term.
