Manchester United and City are ready to do battle for a £50m-rated Premier League defender, while a shock name has emerged to replace Antonio Conte at Chelsea, all in Saturday’s papers.

MAN UTD, CITY TO FIGHT FOR LEICESTER STAR

Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly ready to lock horns over Leicester defender Harry Maguire.

The two Premier League giants are ready to go head-to-head for the England defender this summer, after United joined the race for the 24-year-old.

City have been chasing Maguire since the start of the season and despite landing £57m Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao, the Daily Mirror reports that Pep Guardiola still maintains an interest in the former Hull star.

United boss Jose Mourinho has already ruled out making any attacking signings in the summer transfer window, but it is common knowledge that he is looking to strengthen at the heart of United’s defence, with doubts over the futures of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof and Marcos Rojo.

Maguire, who was signed from Hull for £17million last summer, still has over four years remaining on his Foxes contract and his value is now believed to have trebled to around £50m.

The report goes on to claim that Leicester are already planning for the potential loss of Maguire and have targeted 26-year-old Brighton stopper Lewis Dunk as his replacement.
