Manchester United could land a £88m midfield target after all, while Tottenham are back in for one of Ligue 1’s most in-demand stars, according to Tuesday’s newspapers.
UNITED GIVEN NEW HOPE OF MILINKOVIC-SAVIC DEAL
Manchester United remain in the hunt to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic after meeting with officials from Lazio to discuss a move.
That’s according to Italian paper Il Messagero, via the Daily Express, whom claims the Serbian will be sold by the Serie A club this summer for a fee of around €100million (£88.6m) this summer.
But United are not alone in the hunt for the in-demand 23-year-old, with Real Madrid also holding talks with the Serie A club over a potential deal.
But the good news for United is that Juventus appear now to be out of the race. Milinkovic-Savic had suggested the Serie A champions would be his preferred destination this summer, but their efforts to land Cristiano Ronaldo in a sensational deal means they will unlikely be able to afford the Serbian.
United have already signed Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant this window, but Jose Mourinho has never hidden from the fact that Milinkovic-Savic is his top target of the summer and landing him would prove a big boost ahead of the new season.
