Paper Talk: Man Utd ready to raid Valencia for £30m defender

Manchester United are lining up a move for a £30m Valencia full-back, while Frank Lampard is the front-runner to land a top Championship job, all in Saturday’s papers.

MAN UTD TO MAKE £30M MOVE FOR VALENCIA STAR

Manchester United are reportedly lining up a £30m summer move for Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo.

The Portugal international spent last season on loan at Inter Milan, who have a clause within the agreement to make the deal a permanent one should they wish.

But Inter have yet to take up that option, which has alerted United to Cancelo’s possible availability as boss Jose Mourinho eyes two new full-backs in the summer transfer window, according to the report in the Daily Mirror.

United are also said to be looking at Southampton’s Cedric Soares, but Cancelo has now emerged as another option to provide competition for stalwart Antonio Valencia.

Mourinho is also chasing a new left-back, with Tottenham’s Danny Rose on his radar – although a move for Juventus star Alex Sandro is looking increasingly unlikely.

United are, however, closing in on the addition of a new midfielder with Shakhtar Donetsk’s £50m-rated midfielder Fred seemingly on his way to Old Trafford before the World Cup begins next month.
