Paper Talk: Man Utd sound out £60m De Gea replacement

Manchester United are lining up a £60m move for David de Gea’s successor, while Tottenham and Arsenal are set to scout a Croatia keeper at Wembley, according to Sunday’s papers.

UNITED READY TO MOVE FOR DE GEA SUCCESSOR

Manchester United will reportedly bid £60million for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford if David de Gea refuses to commit to a contract extension.

The Spain stopper’s Old Trafford exit looks more inevitable with each passing week as he refuses to commit to a long-term deal that has been on the table for months.

England number one Pickford, 24, is being viewed as the perfect replacement, according to a report in the Sun on Sunday, given how he handled himself on the big stage at the World Cup over the summer.

De Gea, 28, is said to be a major target for Juventus, who may try to buy him in the summer or wait a year until he is available on a free transfer.

The report goes on to state that at this stage, United are yet to decide whether to cash in on the Spaniard at the end of the season.
