Manchester United are risking missing out on a major £65m Ole Gunnar Solskjaer target, while Tottenham have made contact with a new (old) right-back – all in Monday’s papers.
SOLSKJAER COULD MISS OUT ON MAJOR MIDFIELD TARGET
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ed Woodward are reportedly in disagreement over a potential move for Bruno Fernandes.
Solskjaer is looking to add a new creative midfielder to his squad this summer following the departure of Ander Herrera for PSG and the continued uncertainty surrounding Paul Pogba’s future at Old Trafford.
A long list of names have been linked throughout the summer transfer window but the two to emerge on United’s short-list are Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff and Sporting skipper Fernandes.
The 24-year-old is coming off the back of an incredible season in which he scored 32 goals and won the Portuguese cup for his club, while he also helped Portugal win the inaugural UEFA Nations League final.
Reports suggest Solskjaer is trying to convince United executive vice chairman Woodward that the Sporting playmaker is worth more than £50million — with the Portuguese club holding out for closer £65m.
Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha says Solskjaer is having a real battle trying to convince the United board that Fernandes would be worth the money.
