Paper Talk: Man Utd tell Arsenal to cough up £30m for defensive star

Date published: Friday 10th May 2019 8:33

Manchester United have named their price for an Arsenal defensive target, while the Gunners are weighing up a move for a £25m Newcastle hotshot, according to Friday’s papers.

Manchester United will reportedly let Eric Bailly join Arsenal this summer, but only if the Gunners stump up the £30m United paid for him.

The central defender moved to Old Trafford from Villarreal in 2016 but looks to be on his way out as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rebuilds his squad after missing out on Champions League football next season.

Bailly’s injury problems have also prevented him from cementing a place in the United team, with the defender set to join the likes of Matteo Darmian, Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera and Juan Mata in moving on at the end of the season.

Arsenal are also keen on revamping their defence, with the Daily Mirror claiming that Unai Emery is looking to bring in younger options.

And Metro states that United are willing to do business with the Gunners for the right price, although they also hope that interest from LaLiga clubs will help ramp up the price to nearer their initial £30m outlay.
