A new suitor has emerged to sign Arsenal’s top summer transfer target, while Gareth Bale has been offered a crazy financial deal to head to China, according to Monday’s papers.
BAYERN EMERGE AS MAJOR ZAHA CONTENDERS
Bayern Munich have emerged as surprise candidates to sign top Arsenal target Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace.
The German giants are said to have switched their focus to the 26-year-old after failing in their efforts to land Manchester City winger Leroy Sane and Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.
The Ivory Coast international has made it very clear that he wants out of Selhurst Park this summer, with a move to the Gunners his preferred destination.
However, Arsenal’s initial £40m bid for the former Man Utd attacker fell well short of Palace’s £80m valuation of Zaha – leaving the door open for other clubs to move for the player.
Bayern are on the hunt for wingers after allowing veteran duo Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery leave and have also been linked with a move for talented Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi.
However, a report on 90min states that the German giants are ready to make an enquiry Zaha, although they, like Arsenal, are not prepared to offer Palace’s full asking price for the attacker.
It’s not the first time Bayern have shown an interest in Zaha, having also considered a move for the pacy winger last summer.
As for the Gunners, they will have to sell first before they can even think about upping their bid for Unai Emery’s top target – with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi, Mohamed Elneny and Carl Jenkinson all said to be up for sale.
