Paper Talk: PSG contact Man Utd with £89m midfielder swap

Manchester United have been offered a €100m swap deal, while Chelsea are close to announcing the signings of three star players, according to Tuesday’s newspapers.

Manchester United have reportedly been offered Marco Verratti and cash for Paul Pogba by PSG, according to multiple reports on Tuesday.

Both the Daily Star and The Sun claims the agent of both players, Mino Raiola, has approached United with the possible swap deal that would see Pogba leave for the Parc des Princes and Verratti and an additional €20million added to Jose Mourinho’s transfer kitty.

PSG value Italy midfielder Verratti at around €80m (£70.4m) – with United valuing Pogba at €100m (£88.9m) – hence the €20million (£17.6m) adjustment heading United’s way.

Reports on Monday evening, however, suggested United weren’t the only suitor for Verratti, with Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona also offered the chance to sign the player this summer by Raiola.

The deal is likely to be given some consideration by Mourinho, who has long admired Verratti and also struggled to get the best out of Pogba last season. The United boss has indicated his intention to retain the Frenchman’s services, but the possible approach from PSG could give him much to think about.

Papers in Italy have also gotten hold of the proposed swap, but they stress the midfielder is poised to sign a new deal with PSG worth a huge £9million a year.
