Tottenham are willing to let Christian Eriksen join Real Madrid as long as they get a Spain star in return, while there is also a huge update on David de Gea’s future – all in Saturday’s papers.
SPURS WANT REAL STAR IN ERIKSEN SWAP DEAL
Tottenham are reportedly willing to let Christian Eriksen join Real Madrid – but only if they are given Marco Asensio in return.
A report in The Sun this week claimed that Real were willing to offer £45million for the Dane, plus midfielder Dani Ceballos to seal the deal.
However, Mauricio Pochettino is said to want a more established star, if he is to lose his star playmaker, and that man is Asensio – who could arrive in an initial loan deal.
Real boss Zinedine Zidane is reluctant to let the Spain star leave on a permanent deal, with the LaLiga giants already rejecting an approach from Juventus for the player.
Asensio, who can play in a number of midfield positions or behind the striker, joined Madrid from Real Mallorca in 2015 and has made 44 appearances to go with his 22 caps for Spain.
The latest reports were in stark contrast to those on Friday, when Real were said to have ended their interest in Eriksen and were instead focusing all their efforts on bringing in Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.
Eriksen, meanwhile, hinted earlier this month that he could leave the Champions League finalists – having spent six years in north London.
