Paper Talk: Chelsea eye Ivorian; Man Utd back in for £40m man

Manchester United and Inter Milan are back in the trail of Danny Rose, while Chelsea could beat United to the signing of Serge Aurier, all in Tuesday’s papers.

MAN UTD LINK WITH ROSE RESURFACES

Manchester United and Inter Milan have reignited their interest in Danny Rose, according to a report.

And Tottenham are bracing themselves for approaches for the full-back despite Rose’s knee injury, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 27-year-old injured his knee in January and has been sidelined ever since – which has put paid to any move so far.

Rose, who is rated in the £40m bracket by Tottenham, is believed to be closing in on a return to training after undergoing surgery and he could be back in action next month.

United have Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw to play at left-back but none of them are said to be Mourinho’s first choice and he could look to make a move for Rose in January.

The report claims Inter were watching Rose last season, before he was injured.

Rose has a contract until 2021 and is on a reported £70,000-a-week at Tottenham – a salary he could double with a move to Old Trafford.

CHELSEA IN FOR AURIER

Chelsea are ready to rival Man Utd to sign Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier, according to reports.

Both the Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph claims Antonio Conte has targeted the full-back as he looks to add some depth to his depleted squad.

Conte, who is also in the hunt for Virgil van Dijk, is looking for competition for Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso, and has turned to £27m-rated Aurier.

Aurier has been tracked by United with reports last month claiming a deal had been agreed with the player with United waiting on Aurier’s appeal against an assault conviction.

The player is currently banned from entering the UK after the 24-year-old was found guilty of assaulting a police officer outside a Paris nightclub in September last year.

He was denied entry to the UK last October, missing a Champions League game at Arsenal, when border control authorities revoked a visa that had initially been granted.

And his chances of moving rest entirely on the player’s appeal against the conviction.
