PSG open talks for Tottenham star on collision course with Mourinho

PSG have opened talks over the signing of Dele Alli from Tottenham, according to reports.

Alli has fallen out of favour at Tottenham, and his chances of gametime will not improve following the arrival of Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid.

There had been suggestions that Alli might move the other way, but Madrid have not pursued a deal for him.

However, the England midfielder’s future still seems to lie away from Tottenham. Jose Mourinho left him out of the squad for their win over Southampton on Sunday – reportedly to the perplexion of his teammates.

When asked why, Mourinho denied it was because of fitness.

“No, we have a huge squad, a squad with numbers that are very difficult to manage,” he told BT Sport.

“I never had it, I don’t like to have it and it’s not easy for me to be here with 18 players and to have 10 training in the training ground.

“Too many players, so I start with Son [Heung-min], Lucas [Moura], with Harry [Kane] and on the bench I still have Moussa Sissoko and [Erik] Lamela and [Steven] Bergwijn.

“We have too many players for some positions and some of them are paying the price of this.”

Now, Alli may pay the price further by being shown the exit door. According to the Telegraph, PSG are now in talks about him.

The French champions have been interested in Alli for some time, and are intrigued by the chance to sign an English player.

Now, they have made their interest known – although it is not yet clear whether they favour a loan deal or permanent transfer.

Spurs are open to letting Alli leave on temporary terms, so could sanction a loan with an option to buy.

Inter Milan have also been weighing up a move for the 24-year-old, but PSG could have stolen a march on them.
