RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka has an exciting stance on sealing a transfer to Liverpool this summer amid a blow for West Ham, reports claim.
The 22-year-old has become one of the hottest attackers on in Europe after a standout season in Austria. The Zambia international netted 34 goals in 42 games, including 27 in 28 league games. He showed his prowess to Liverpool before then, though, scoring against the Reds in a pre-season clash.
However, it is his fantastic campaign which has seen clubs across the continent, including Liverpool, monitor his progress.
According to Football Insider, though, Daka has told the Hammers that he would reject their proposal. Indeed, he wants a move to a ‘higher-level’ club playing Champions League football.
Meanwhile, a separate report from Football Insider says that the striker would be “very keen” on moving to Liverpool.
The Reds have also taken steps towards a transfer by making an enquiry. That has led Salzburg to put a £17million valuation on Daka’s services.
In any case, Salzburg expect their star man to leave after his standout performances.
Liverpool are looking into Daka’s transfer as they aim to bolster their attacking ranks.
While Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have proved unmissable, they are approaching a fifth season working together.
What’s more, their contracts run out in 2023 and, at this stage, it remains unclear if they will stay.
Diogo Jota has added an exciting dimension to the attack after signing from Wolves. In fact, he has yet to really get going after a knee injury scuppered his early form last season.
Behind the quartet, though, Liverpool are light. Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri are options, but the former barely played last term.
As such, Origi features on a list of 12 players sporting director Michael Edwards is reportedly planning to sell.
Liverpool reportedly want midfielder transfer
Liverpool are also reportedly keen on adding a new midfielder to their ranks after Georginio Wijnaldum’s departure.
The Dutchman was an almost ever-present for the Reds and so will be a big miss.
But while a Roma star has emerged on their radar, a Premier League rival has joined the hunt.
