Pundit purrs over ‘terrific’ Man Utd star and hails ‘real talent’ Amad Diallo

Paul Scholes lavished praise on Bruno Fernandes after Manchester United romped to a 4-0 win over Real Sociedad – and admits he cannot wait to see more of “real talent” Amad Diallo.

United claimed a resounding first-leg advantage by scoring four times at the Juventus Stadium – with Fernandes the star of the show.

However, despite the manner of the win, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemed slightly non-plussed – possibly due to some poor recent results in the Premier League.

Despite Solskjaer’s pragmatism, Scholes insisted United should be applauded for the win.

And in Fernandes, Scholes claims United have been blessed with a star of enormous brilliance.

“Bruno Fernandes has been sensational since the day he signed,” he told BT Sport. “Every single game you feel he will score. He’s been a truly terrific signing.

“He knows where everyone is on the pitch. He has a picture in his head and he is capable of playing the killer pass every time. I love watching him play.”

Due to the manner of victory, United were able to bring forward a debut for 18-year-old winger Diallo.

While he did not get on the scoresheet, he did feature for seven minutes  – much to Scholes’ delight.

“We didn’t see much of him tonight,” he said.

A look ahead to the Premier League game between Man Utd and Newcastle, including stats on form, possession, shots, cards, corners, top scorers and previous meetings.

“He looks a talented player. I watched the U23s last week. He scored a goal and made a couple of goals.

“He’s got real talent, a nice left foot. Is he quick? I’m not too sure I haven’t seen that yet.

“Creative player, very young at 18. Give him time and hopefully he can do.”

Diallo’s debut also provoked a reaction from Solskjaer, who admitted the youngster has already caught the eye.

“He’s getting closer and closer to his minutes by the day,” Solskjaer said. “That is why we felt towards the end when we were 3-0 up to go and let him enjoy his first 10 minutes for the club.”

Hargreaves believes in United trophy chance

After the match, Fernandes made it clear his target is to end the season with silverware with United.

Scholes’ fellow pundit Owen Hargreaves believes United can quench Fernandes’ desires too.

“I think they will win a trophy this season, whatever that might be,” Hargreaves added on BT Sport.

“Ole has done a good job and a trophy is exactly what the fans want.”

Hargreaves added: “Bruno Fernandes is a leader and his impact has been off the charts. He’s said the right words after games and not critical but it’s about trophies.

“When he tries to bring all the players together, the players on the pitch towards the subs, it shows he’s trying to keep the players together. That’s the sign of a real leader.”
