Manchester City have been alerted to an incredible opportunity to sign one of Bayern Munich’s best players in a huge summer move, according to bombshell reports emerging from Germany.

City are in a great position to make the Champions League semi-finals at Bayern’s expense after winning 3-0 in their quarter-final first leg last week. Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland got on the scoresheet as Pep Guardiola’s men swept the reigning Bundesliga champions aside at the Etihad.

Bayern are always formidable opponents, especially when playing at home, but they will have to put on an amazing performance to overturn the three-goal deficit.

Guardiola could pile more misery on Bayern this summer, too. As per Madrid Zone, who cite Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, City have struck up an interest in Bayern’s pacy left wing-back Alphonso Davies.

The Citizens have been tipped to launch an offer for the Canadian, although there is no mention of how much this proposal might be worth.

City believe Davies might be available for transfer later this year if he opts against extending his Bayern terms. His current deal at the Allianz Arena expires in June 2025.

However, City are not alone in chasing Davies. It is revealed that Spanish giants Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on his situation.

They could submit an opposing offer if City open the bidding this summer. It would then be down to Bayern to decide if they are going to try and keep their player by extending his contract, or if they should cash in and get as much money for him as possible.

Man City could complete major Bayern raid

Davies would be an incredible signing for either City or Real. Since joining Bayern in January 2019, Davies has proven himself to be one of the most electric players in Europe.

Few players are quicker than the 22-year-old. This means he can breeze past opponents and get crosses into the box, or race back into defence and prevent goalscoring opportunities at the other end of the pitch.

And given his tender age, Davies has plenty of time to develop and become an even better full-back.

City being linked with signing a new left-back is not surprising given the fact they have loaned Joao Cancelo out to Bayern, where he is operating mainly as a right-back. The Bavarians are expected to make Cancelo’s move to Germany permanent this summer, although they hope to bring his €7omillion (£61.8m) fee down.

However, what is surprising from a City perspective is the fact they are being tipped to sign such a big name as Davies. He is one of Bayern’s stars for the future, as well as one of their most marketable players given his North American connections.

City completing a deal for Davies would be a huge statement of intent. It could help Guardiola and his side blow the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal away in next season’s Premier League title hunt.

Meanwhile, Monday’s Euro Paper Talk claims City could get to the signing of a breakout La Liga star before Man Utd and Arsenal.
