Philippe Coutinho linked with shock return to Liverpool

Barcelona flop Philippe Coutinho could make a shock return to Liverpool this summer, according to Le 10 Sport.

The French outlet suggest that “several Premier League teams are interested in Coutinho’s arrival this summer” with Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool in the frame for the Brazilian.

The 26-year-old endured a difficult season in Catalonia and he admitted as much earlier this month with several interested parties in the attacking midfielder.

Apparently, “Barcelona leaders do not seem opposed to his transfer” with Coutinho ready to leave Barcelona just 18 months after signing for £142million from Liverpool.

There’s very little detail from the French publication, who we can only assume have their new information via a source from PSG.

Earlier this month Paris United claimed that Coutinho’s representative Kia Joorabchian had met with PSG transfer guru Antero Henrique on numerous occasions in London.

It’s understood a move was discussed, but the Ligue 1 giants had yet to make a formal approach for Coutinho.

Coutinho recently told Marca his form had been disappointing.

“I didn’t have a great season. It was below what I expect from myself and what the supporters expect from me,” Coutinho said.

“But you can only gain confidence through working hard, which is what I have done and what I will continue to do.”

Cadena SER reported two weeks ago that Coutinho had told the LaLiga champions he wanted to leave a the Camp Nou.

With just five goals and two assists from 34 appearances in a title-winning side, the midfielder wanted out with Spanish publication Sport claiming that PSG were only club that could afford his £98million fee and the players £10.6million-a-year wages.
