Pochettino ‘knows what he wants’ as compatriot hints at Man Utd wait

Mauricio Pochettino is ready to return to management, but is fully prepared to wait for the opportunity he wants, according to Ossie Ardiles.

Pochettino has been out of work since he was sacked by Tottenham last November and replaced by Jose Mourinho.

The Argentine has been continually linked with the Manchester United hotseat. That speculation has come to the fore again in recent weeks after an indifferent start to the season for the Red Devils.

Indeed, speaking as a guest on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football recently, Pochettino said life in football is “not a stress” and is looking forward to returning soon.

“I am looking forward to be involved in the game, I love the game,” Pochettino said.

“We are inside, working, but it’s not the same as being involved every day. Working with your staff, working with players – always you miss that, that’s the reality.

“I love football, it’s my passion, not my job. It’s not a stress to work in football. It is not a stress to go to training. It’s not a stress to prepare the team. It’s not a stress to compete.”

Last week it was suggested that Pochettino was keeping his eye on three possible job openings in the Premier League. The report claims Chelsea, Man City and United were the three prospective posts that interest him.

Now Ardiles claims his countryman has indeed had offers to return to work. However, Pochettino, it’s claimed is waiting for one job in particular as he ‘knows exactly what he wants’.

The Spurs legend told the Evening Standard: “He has had a few offers, but for one reason or another it’s not happened.

“He’s just waiting and he’s in a very good position, he can more or less choose where to go.”

While not naming Manchester United directly, it’s strongly been hinted Pochettino is waiting to see what fate beholds Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Ardiles, however, has suggested Pochettino is prepared to wait, offering a further hint he’s waiting on the United hotseat.

“He knows exactly what he wants to do,” Ardiles added.

“Football is his life, so he’s been watching everything and he likes to talk about football.

“He’ll take his time and, before long, he’ll be working again.”
