Mauricio Pochettino believes the Group B Champions League clash against Red Star on Tuesday night will be a difficult one for Tottenham.
Struggling Spurs will take on the 1991 European champions in north London, having made it three games without a win after Saturday’s disappointing draw with Watford.
But despite their current form, Pochettino is confident he can turn things around quickly.
He said in his pre-match press conference: “It is going to be tough, every single game is tough. But at the moment our worst opponent is ourselves.
“We need to compete with Red Star as well as ourselves.”
After reaching this year’s final, Pochettino also admitted that the pressure on Spurs has been greater this season but he hopes to turn things around to get the belief back.
He added: “The expectation changed after the Champions League final and that is why the situation looks worse.
“The most important thing is to build our confidence again.”
Pochettino also brushed off the idea of anyone questioning his position, adding: “That is football. I am not surprised.
“In the same way they praise you, football is all about the win. What happened yesterday is gone.”
