Pochettino: That was our best performance of the season

Mauricio Pochettino thinks Tottenham’s performance in their 2-1 loss to Inter Milan on Tuesday night was their best of the season so far.

Christian Eriksen gave Spurs the lead at the start of the second-half before two goal in the last five minutes from Mauro Icardi and Matias Vecino gave the Italians victory.

Pochettino told BT Sport: “I am happy with the performance. The performance was so good. We dominated but of course it’s so cruel.

“For me is was the best performance that we’ve had from the beginning of the season.

“It’s annoying. I think the players deserved more. Before the first goal we had the game under control. After we conceded the goal, anything can happen in a place like San Siro.”

Spurs defender Serge Aurier added: “We controlled the game but we conceded two goals. Every player played very, very good but I don’t know how we conceded the goals. We need to stay focused and stay together for next week.”
