Pogba in jovial mood as he jokingly names glaring Bruno Fernandes flaw

Paul Pogba has joked that his Manchester United team-mate Bruno Fernandes has mastered all midfield arts apart from defending.

Fernandes has arguably proved to be United’s best signing since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013. The Portugal international has had an immense impact, scoring 33 goals and assisting 22 others in 71 matches. However, his leadership throughout the team has also proved a vital asset for his colleagues.

He has formed a solid relationship with fellow midfielder Pogba, the pair starting 14 Premier League matches together this season.

Speaking to MUTV, the Frenchman hailed Fernandes influence throughout the team. However, he could not resist a tongue-in-cheek dig at his team-mate.

“I enjoy playing with Bruno,” Pogba said. “He’s someone who understands the game and understands the movement that can give you a beautiful pass, he can finish too.

“He’s all over the place, he can do everything really… except defending!

“But really, it’s always a joy to play him, to understand him. He understands me as well, he can take my position,

“I can take his position as well. I think he suits the team, he’s a very dominant influence in our team.”

Mark Bosnich gushes over Bruno Fernandes

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich believes Bruno Fernandes is arguably the best signing any club has made for the last 12 months.

Fernandes has made himself a contender for the Premier League’s Player of the Year this season after netting 16 goals and supplying 11 others so far.

United had a sluggish start after no pre-season, but they look well-set to finish second in the table.

Premier League title triumph remains a slim possibility, however Manchester City have a firm grip on top spot.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side return to action on Sunday when facing Burnley at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer dug out for ‘worst’ excuse

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Man Utd manager

United will be playing in front of black banners – instead of red ones – at their empty stadium against the Clarets.

Solskjaer revealed earlier this week that his players had complained about being unable to spot their team-mates amid the clash of colours.

However, pundit Chris Waddle has said that Solskjaer has come up with the “worst excuse I’ve ever heard” for sketchy home form.
