After injury troubles in the last few weeks, the predicted Real Madrid side to face Liverpool should see David Alaba return to the fold.
Real’s form in the last few weeks has been good. They won La Liga by a big margin, earning 13 points more than rivals Barcelona.
While Real have drawn their last couple, in the game prior to a 1-1 draw with Cadiz on the penultimate game of the season they hit six past Levante in a 6-0 victory. They left it until late to defeat Manchester City last time out in the Champions League in a stunning comeback.
Real came into the game 4-3 down on aggregate, but a double from Rodrygo late on sent the tie to extra time. Karim Benzema finished the match off with a penalty in extra time.
Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that his entire squad – other than Marcelo who has a slight knock – is fully fit for the game. Ancelotti said the team is in “good shape” for the final in his pre-match press conference.
Last time out – Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis
Former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois played in net. The centre-back positions were filled by Nacho Fernandez and Eder Militao, with Alaba out through injury.
Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy played as the full-backs.
Tchouameni chooses Real Madrid over Liverpool
Real Madrid win the race for the Tchouameni against Liverpool reports say
The midfield saw the experienced trio of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos start.
Up top, Champions League semi-final hero Rodrygo started with Benzema and Vinicius Junior.
Predicted Real Madrid team against Liverpool
Courtois will no doubt remain in net. Alaba is fit, and should therefore return to the defence, despite missing the last six games. Militao should play alongside him, as he has missed just one Champions League game this season, through suspension.
Carvajal and Mendy are likely to remain in the full-back positions.
The midfield trio is no doubt going to be Modric, Casemiro and Kroos – who have each won four Champions League titles.
Federico Valverde could play on the right wing, in place of Rodrygo. He has played the last seven in the Champions League – starting the last five – and 10 of the last 11 in the league.
What’s more, Rodrygo has proved that he can be a super-substitute.
Valverde could therefore partner Benzema – Real’s top goalscorer this term with 42 goals – and Vinicius. Benzema is two goals from equalling Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for most Champions League goals in a season (17) and will hope he can do so in the final.
Predicted Real Madrid XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Mendy; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Valverde, Benzema; Vinicius
