Raul Meireles: Linked with return to Premier League.

West Brom are among a group of Premier League teams who have reportedly been offered former Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles.

The 34-year-old, who won 73 caps for Portugal, is a former Champions League winner with Chelsea in 2012 and has been playing most recently for Fenerbahce in Turkey.

The report in the Birmingham Mail claims that clubs in Italy are also keen on the playmaker, while Leicester, Swansea and Watford are also said to have been have offered the current free agent.

The link to the Baggies is perhaps the most surprising, given that Tony Pulis is not exactly short on numbers in the central midfield areas, with Gareth Barry, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Claudio Yacob, Jake Livermore and Sam Field all on West Brom’s books.

Meireles made 35 Premier League appearances for Liverpool after joining from FC Porto for £11.5 million in 2010, lifting the League Cup with the Reds before joining Chelsea for £12m a year later.

He was an FA Cup winner at Stamford Bridge, while the Blues lifted Europe’s top prize when they beat Bayern Munich on penalties in the final under the leadership of Roberto Di Matteo.
