Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henrique has hit out at Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Henrique has criticised Perez for speaking about Neymar on the day Cristiano Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or last week.
Neymar moved from Barcelona to PSG for a world-record €222million in the summer, but just four months into the five-year, £600,000-a-week deal he signed in August, speculation has arisen linking the Brazilian with a return to La Liga and Barca’s deadly rivals Real Madrid.
Henrique though insists the 25-year-old is happy at PSG and says Perez should not have been talking about Neymar.
“If Neymar could leave PSG to go to Madrid? No. Because he is happy, he loves the club and is fulfilling here,” Henrique told AS.
“It’s not a question of money, it’s a question of balance. Neymar accepted our vision, he has a lot of ambition and PSG offered him space for his ambition.
“To speak about about a player from another club on the day in which [Cristiano] Ronaldo wins the Ballon d’Or is not good for the player.”
Last month Neymar stormed out of PSG’s post-match press conference after being asked about a move to Real.
After the 7-1 win over Celtic, Neymar blasted: “For f**k’s sake, have you got nothing else to talk about?”
The talk has not gone away though with rumours suggesting Neymar’s summer move from Barca to PSG only happened to ease the path for Neymar to eventually sign for Madrid.
Real Madrid came close to signing Neymar from Santos prior to his move to Barcelona back in 2013 and rumours of a bust-up with team-mate Edinson Cavani and claims he has failed to settle in France have only fuelled the talk of a return to Spain.
And when Neymar’s father was asked about the talk last month, he did little to end the speculation.
“How can I answer that? I can’t talk about something that doesn’t exist. How can he go to Real Madrid? What sort of a question is that?
“Today we don’t have that thought [that Neymar signs for Real Madrid], answering that is feeding an idea that is not possible, I simply can’t talk about a negotiation that could happen in five or six years time,” Neymar’s father told Fox Sports Brasil
“Neymar has a long contract with Paris Saint-Germain and has only just arrived. We are three months in and already a move is being talked about. It’s difficult for people to respond to this type of thing.”
