Paris Saint-Germain are plotting to offer Kylian Mbappe a huge new contract to keep him away from the clutches of Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Spanish outlet AS claim the Ligue 1 giants are set to offer Mbappe a deal that would put him in the same earning bracket as superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The report claims PSG have already made two renewal offers to the 21-year-old, but both have been knocked back. However, the third offer of €50million net per season will surely be taken more seriously by Mbappe’s representatives.
A study by CIES Observatory in January 2019 suggested Mbappe was the most valuable player in the game.
The France forward’s current deal sees him earn around €20.7million per year before tax, and he is under contract until 2022.
Real Madrid’s plan, per the source, is to try to sign the attacker in the summer of 2021, when he only has one year left on his contract., just as they did with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
PSG are said to be preparing themselves for an approach for the player and have put the wheels in motion over a prospective huge new deal for the player.
Mbappe hit the headlines earlier this month when he was seen arguing with PSG boss Thomas Tuchel after being substituted.
The pair were seen arguing recently after Mbappe was hooked in the 68th minute and replaced by Mauro Icardi. PSG boss Tuchel grabbed the France forward, who had scored the fourth goal in the 5-0 win over Montpellier, and tried to explain why he had been subbed.
“It doesn’t look good, but we are not the only club where players react like that,” Tuchel explained afterwards.
“This team shows how professional and focused they are every day, but this gives the impression it’s not always like that and I’m sad because it’s not necessary.
“I explained to him why he came off and that will be that. I always make decisions for sporting reasons. This is football, not tennis, and you have to respect everyone.”
Mbappe and Tuchel apparently held clear-the-air talks in front of the squad, with sports director Leonardo present on Sunday, according to Le Parisien.
However, the pair remain distant with the French publication claiming “the rift between the two is widening”.
Liverpool have also been linked with Mbappe, who has described the Reds recently as “a machine” with reports have claiming Liverpool have the funds to sign the France international.
Jurgen Klopp though, who met the player’s family members in an bid to convince him to sign for Liverpool two years ago, recently said they have “absolutely no chance” of signing the player.
“Buying this calibre of player is difficult,” said Klopp. “I don’t see any club at the moment who can buy Kylian Mbappe from PSG. I don’t see any club, that is how it is. And we are involved in the clubs that cannot do it. It is as easy as that.
“OK, from a sporting point of view, there are not a lot of reasons to not sign him. What a player he is. But it is about the money of course. No chance. Absolutely no chance. Sorry for killing that story.”
