Do or die for Arsenal, as Arteta told Edu has sent summer transfer threat

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta “won’t survive” more than 10 games next season if his summer transfer plans fail to work, one pundit claims.

Arteta stepped boldly into a big job at the Emirates Stadium in December 2019. The Gunners were facing a steep downturn under Unai Emery, but his fellow Spaniard managed to secure European football for this season. During last summer’s transfer window, the club struggled for finances and Thomas Partey proved their biggest capture at £45million.

After a poor first half of the Premier League season, Arsenal‘s chances of qualifying for Europe via the domestic route look slim.

However, they could yet win the Europa League and reach next season’s Champions League.

Nevertheless, this summer will prove a big one for Arteta as he looks to take Arsenal to the next step on their journey.

Indeed, pundit Tony Cascarino believes that the manager could go next season if his transfer plan fails.

“I was thinking about Arsenal and Tottenham, funnily enough, at the same time yesterday,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.

“I was just thinking about how much of a mess these two clubs have got themselves into and it stems from ownership. That has played a massive part.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann agrees with Gary Neville's views that there is a 'disconnect' between some of the club's players and Mikel Arteta.

“The clubs are in a mess. Both have built new stadiums, state of the art. The Emirates was brilliant when it was built. Compete with the very best in Europe and Tottenham have done likewise.

“The problem is they’re a mess on the field. Things are going to be changing at those two clubs. Arteta has got a massive challenge in reinventing Arsenal.

“He will get this summer to do that but 10 games into next year, if things are not very different, he won’t survive.”

Speculation has already indicated that Arteta’s job is at risk.

Arsenal transfer targets emerge for Arteta

Yves Bissouma, Brighton midfielder

Several names have already emerged as potential targets for Arsenal this summer.

Reports claim that the Gunners are after Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.

Everton, West Ham and Tottenham have all made enquiries about the possibility of a move for the 24-year-old.

However, claims have emerged that the Gunners are the frontrunners for signature.
