Charlie Nicholas has urged Arsenal boss Unai Emery to drop Matteo Guendouzi for Saturday’s clash with Leicester, given that he is “having a shocker”.
Guendouzi has been a key man for the Gunners so far this term, starting all 11 Premier League games while registering three assists in all competitions.
However, his performances have gone under the radar of late due to the focus being on midfield partner Granit Xhaka, who has recently been dropped and stripped of the captaincy following his controversial gesture to the fans last month.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Nicholas said that Guendouzi needs to be exposed and should be culled for the match against the Foxes, while also commenting on other Gunners stars.
“Kieran Tierney needs to work on his final ball and this is important to get the service into the front men,” the pundit said.
“Matteo Guendouzi is having a shocker and he is getting away with it due to Xhaka – he needs to be taken out of the team.
“I would rather Unai Emery go with Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Lucas Torreira. This is his normal position, so let them be the legs in front of you.
“Mesut Ozil played well so he should stay in the side ahead of Dani Ceballos, while bringing Nicolas Pepe in for the counter-attack.
“I am not feeling good about [the Leicester game].”
Arsenal head into Saturday’s clash in fifth in the Premier League table, six points behind the Foxes.
