Pundit makes astonishing Kylian Mbappe claim about Leeds United move

Leeds United’s displays this season have been so good, one pundit has jokingly claimed that ‘even Kylian Mbappe’ will be sitting up and taking notice about the style of play.

Two goals from substitute Rodrigo crowned a solid 4-0 win for the Whites against Burnley. It means Leeds are closing on a top-half finish and brought up an impressive goals stat in the process. It’s been a brilliant season back in the Premier League for Marcelo Bielsa’s side. It also means they have suffered just one defeat – at Brighton – in their last nine games.

One incident – seemingly misconstrued – with Gjanni Alioski may have soured the victory at Turf Moor.

However, their free-flowing football had much to be admired and gives Leeds hope of even better next season.

Leeds will likely strengthen in two positions this summer. They are looking at a new left-back – to replace Alioski, who is set to move on a free – and a midfielder to provide cover and competition.

However, after purring over their display at Turf Moor, BBC Radio Leeds pundit Noel Whelan joked that Mbappe would want to play for Leeds.

“I guarantee you. You got Mbappe watching this style of football, he would be like, ‘I would love to play in this side’. I kid you not,” Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds.

Mbappe to Leeds is obviously a transfer that simply cannot happen – at least not any time soon. Whelan, of course will undoubtedly know this.

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane shrugs off links with Kylian Mbappe.but reveals he has watched the PSG striker 'with a lot of interest and pleasure'.

The striker, who has just a year left on his deal, would command a fee in the region of £150m. He would also likely command wages that would probably match half the Leeds side put together.

Raphinha ready to take game to next level

One man that Mbappe would thrive alongside, that said, would be Brazilian talent Raphinha.

Raphinha Leeds United

He has enjoyed a brilliant first season in the Premier League. However, after a relatively subdued performance at Burnley, he has been tipped to shine even brighter next term by Danny Mills.

He wants Raphinha to add a little robustness to his game and take his talents to the next level.

“He’s had his first season in the Premier League now it’s about building that robustness to play at that level week in, week out,” he told Football Insider. “The experience of this season will stand him in good stead for next year.”
