Pundit sick of ‘shocking’ Bale displays, tells Spurs man to pack up and go

Pundit Jamie O’Hara says that he has grown “tired” of Gareth Bale’s loan stint at Tottenham, adding that his reunion “just needs to end”.

Bale, who left Spurs for Real Madrid in 2013, went on to become a trophy-laden figure for Los Blancos. However, his relationship with the club turned sour and he snapped up an opportunity to move back to north London. The Welshman moved back in September, with excitement brewing about the quality he could bring.

However, barring a spell of form before the international break, the loan move has largely failed to work out.

Bale returned with injury problems and it took him several months to get fully fit. However, talk of disagreements between him and manager Jose Mourinho accompanied the frustration over his lack of minutes.

Speaking on talkSPORT, O’Hara added by naming two “shocking” performances from the winger which have stood out for him.

“Everyone’s had enough of the Gareth Bale saga,” the pundit said. “The fans, the players, the media, everyone has just had enough.

“He came in, there were people standing outside the ground, it was like the messiah coming back.

“He wasn’t fit for three months, got fit, had a few decent games, started playing well and then disappeared in the two biggest games of the season against Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb, two shocking performances.”

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Gareth Bale says he will return to Real Madrid in the summer - as per the terms of his loan contract - but may then have to discuss the future with his agent.

Spurs lost 2-1 to Arsenal in the north London derby last month, with Bale playing 57 minutes.

In the shock Europa League exit to Dinamo, meanwhile, the forward played for an hour but struggled to affect proceedings.

More recently, though, the focus has turned to Bale’s plan after this season. His agent, Jonathan Barnett insisted in September that a second loan stint could be on the cards.

However, Bale himself insisted that his focus was on returning to fitness to help Wales at the delayed European Championships this summer, which O’Hara questioned.

“Then he comes out and says he just wanted to be fit for the Euros,” O’Hara added.

“It’s why he came to Spurs, he wants to go back to Real Madrid. Everyone is just tired of it.

“You can see Mourinho is tired of it. He didn’t bother playing him against Aston Villa, he brought him on for two minutes against Newcastle.

“That whole situation just needs to end.”

Spurs return to action on Sunday when facing Manchester United in north London.
