Rafa eyes second winger with Kenedy on verge of signing for Newcastle
Newcastle are believed to be confident of announcing the loan arrival of Kenedy from Chelsea today.
The Chelsea winger travelled north on the train yesterday to undergo a medical and tie up the formalities on a season-long loan deal.
Talks between the parties started at the beginning of the month with the The Newcastle Chronicle reporting that Chelsea had quoted Newcastle a £30m fee to buy the left-sided wide man.
That was out of reach for Rafa Benitez so instead another loan deal has been hammered out with a ‘facility fee’ to be paid to the Blues for his services.
The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season with Benitez’s side and he impressed, scoring two goals in 13 appearances.
Kenedy returned to pre-season training with Chelsea on Monday, but left to travel up to Newcastle.
Sky Sports also report that Newcastle are keen on re-signing Andros Townsend in addition to Kenedy with Crystal Palace looking for a fee of around £17m.
