Ramsey: QPR still believe

Rangers are second-bottom in the table and four points from safety with away games at Liverpool, Manchester City and Leicester still to come.

Ramsey admits their 0-0 draw with West Ham at Loftus Road last Saturday has left them in a perilous position but is adamant the mood in the camp remains positive.

“The mood has been fantastic,” he said. “They were quite a bit deflated at the end of the week because they thought they had done enough to win the game at the weekend.

“But we’ve got people like Joey Barton, Clint Hill, Richard Dunne – they go around jollying people up and the other players too are making sure the chins aren’t too low to the ground.

“Everyone is of the same mindset, we do believe we can stay up, we know it’s going to be difficult but everybody is up for it.”

Ramsey also revealed Bobby Zamora is struggling to be fit for Saturday’s visit to Anfield – he has been suffering with a persistent hip injury – but says his 34-year-old striker is prepared to continue playing with the injury in order to help keep QPR in the Premier League.

“You wouldn’t know that by the grit and determination he’s showed and the way he’s worked hard towards keeping us up,” Ramsey said.

“He’s had a long-term injury which he’s been playing with. I’m very pleased he’s got himself out there to try to help us.

“Bobby has a bad hip but he’s got a bad few things. He’s a man who has taken a lot of bumps and bruises because he’s the one who is always in the battle.

“It can be anything from ankle to hip to shoulder but whatever happens, I’m sure he’ll be involved again before the end of the season.”

Top-scorer Charlie Austin missed a penalty against West Ham – and has been linked with a move to Bournemouth as they prepare for life in the Premier League.

But Ramsey says he expects Austin to try his hardest to keep QPR up.

“Charlie’s been fine – he’s training well,” he said. “We haven’t really spoken about him leaving the club and I’d hate to have that speculation hanging around with the task we’ve got ahead.

“As far as we’re concerned Charlie’s a QPR player at the moment and he knows he has a duty to try and keep us in the division.”
