Rangers down and out after defeat

The Germans went ahead on 16 minutes when Aleksandr Hleb played a one-two with Cacau before squaring across the six-yard box to Pavel Pogrebnyak, who missed the ball before Sebastian Rudy slide in for his first goal for Stuttgart.

Two minutes later, Stuttgart had the ball in the net again but the goal was ruled out. Zdravko Kuzmenovic’s free-kick from the left cannoned in off the post but Matthieu Delpierre was offside.

Rangers wasted a glorious chance when Kenny Miller delivered a delightful cross from the right to Kris Boyd but he headed over from 10 yards out.

Stuttgart added a second on 59 minutes when they broke quickly and Rudy’s cross from the right was headed in by the unmarked Kuzmenovic.
