Manchester United’s front four were very impressive in the 4-1 win against West Ham, who need a vast improvement from Dimitri Payet.

DAVID DE GEA At fault for West Ham’s equaliser when spilling Dimitri Payet’s shot straight into the path of Ashley Fletcher 5

ANTONIO VALENCIA Question marks remain on his ability to track back but was a threat in attacking areas 6.5

MARCOS ROJO Definitely the biggest surprise of the evening with an assured, confident display at the back 7

PHIL JONES: Couple of brain-dead moments but his mistakes ultimately went unpunished 6

LUKE SHAW: Given another chance to push for the first-choice left-back slot but an injury brought a premature end to his night 6

ANDER HERRERA: A really scrappy performance compared to the weekend 5.5

MICHAEL CARRICK: Struggled against West Ham’s physical midfield and not as influential as he usually is 5

HENRIKH MKHITARYAN: Gave Jose Mourinho another clear sign he is ready for the Premier League with two great assists 9

WAYNE ROONEY: A little, naughty kick-out aside, this was a very encouraging display in the No.10 role with his some wonderful passing throughout 8

ANTHONY MARTIAL: Plenty of opportunities came his way and finally took his chances in the second half with an impressive brace 8

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC Opened the scoring with barely a minute on the clock and had the final say when tapping home Mkhitaryan’s pinpoint pass 8

DALEY BLIND (replaced Shaw 45′) Kept things quiet down United’s left-hand side 6

BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER (replaced Martial 87′) Stop the search party! He is alive and well! 6

MARCUS RASHFORD (replaced Mkhitaryan 89′) Last-minute sub N/A

ADRIAN: Very fortunate not to see a red card for catching Zlatan Ibrahimovic high on his leg 5

MICHAIL ANTONIO: A frustrating night was capped by hobbling off the pitch in the second half with a suspected groin strain 6

ANGELO OGBONNA: The clear weak link in West Ham’s five-man defence and put his side under pressure throughout 5

WINSTON REID: Caught massively out of position for United’s first but redeemed himself slightly with a series of strong, vital tackles 6

CHEIKHOU KOUYATE: Really needs to return to midfield if West Ham are to get the best out of him 5

AARON CRESSWELL: Played a minor role in West Ham’s equaliser before an injury forced him to withdraw just before the break 6

PEDRO OBIANG: Was instrumental in West Ham’s equaliser but was kept very busy chasing down United’s fluent front four 6

EDIMILSON FERNANDES: Caught the eye in midfield and could well keep his place in West Ham’s game against Arsenal 7

DIMITRI PAYET: His spilled shot led to West Ham getting back on level terms but he was largely anonymous yet again 5

SOFIANE FEGHOULI: Looked sluggish and completely froze when United were left exposed at the back 5

ASHLEY FLETCHER: Looked isolated for a large portion of the game but was in the right place at the right time to tap in against his former club 6

ARTHUR MASUAKU (replaced Cresswell 45′) Hammers fans will no doubt be happy he managed to get through 45 minutes without making a glaring error 5

MANUEL LANZINI (replaced Antonio 58′) Not on long enough to start having a real impact 5.5

SIMONE ZAZA (replaced Payet 76′) There is no other way to put it: he is absolutely hopeless. Completely missed a header from close range and had a wild, wild shot 5
