Real Madrid chief Perez sounds out January move for PSG hitman

Florentino Perez is exploring the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani in January.

The Real Madrid chief is well aware that he may need to strengthen the La Liga and Champions League winners in the winter market after a slow start to the season.

Zinedine Zidane’s men are fifth and seven points off the leaders Barcelona after just seven games and alarm bells are already ringing with Perez.

And Don Balon report Perez has already been sounding out a move for the 30-year-old Uruguay frontman, who has blasted 11 goals in 11 games for PSG this season.

Cavani and new boy Neymar are understood to be at loggerheads in the French capital and the animosity between the two was recently evident in a dispute over a penalty.

On Neymar’s first meeting with Cavani, Spanish paper El Pais claimed Cavani said: “And who is this? Do you think you’re (Lionel) Messi?”

That infuriated the Brazilian and despite intervention from Dani Alves the two still do not see eye to eye.

PSG are keen to sell Cavani and do not want any more problems with their new £199million recruit Neymar and the report suggests Cavani would be open to a move to the Bernabeu.

The only problem Perez has it that Zidane is not keen on the forward. The French boss “does not want to put any rooster in the hen house” and is apparently wary of upsetting Karim Benzema, who has just penned a new four-year contract.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who has just returned to action following a five-game ban, is also not keen on the competition that Cavani would bring and it would represent a bold move from Perez to bring in such a strong personality as Cavani.

It’s understood Zidane has agreed with Perez to only move in the market if things fail to improve in Madrid.
