Real Madrid have sent scouts to monitor the progress of Chelsea’s blossoming midfield superstar Mason Mount, with Los Blancos head honcho Florentino Perez reportedly a ‘keen admirer’.

Mount has impressed in his debut season in the Premier League so far, notching three goals on his way to becoming one of boss Frank Lampard’s key men at just 20 years of age.

Zinedine Zidane has come under scrutiny following a below-par start to the season, with pressure on the Madrid legend intensified by the huge sums spent over the summer on the likes of Eden Hazard (€100m), Luka Jovic (€60m), Eder Militao (€50m) and co.

Now according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Florentino Perez in typically Real Madrid fashion, could be set to splash the cash once more as he has set his sights on securing the signature of Mason Mount.

The report claims that Real Madrid have ‘sent several of [their] scouts to follow closely the developments in Mason Mount.’

Mount, described in the report as the ‘indisputable leader of the attack’ recently signed a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea along with Lampard would be expected to be resolute in their efforts to keep the England international in South West London.
