Real Madrid give up on Pogba, Eriksen and turn to £37m Espanyol star

Marc Roca TEAMtalk

Real Madrid have given up on signing Christian Eriksen or Paul Pogba and have moved their attention elsewhere, claims a report in Spain.

According to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Real have given up on signing Premier League duo Eriksen and Pogba due to the price tags on both players and the difficulty of the negotiations with Spurs and Man Utd respectively.

Real and Zinedine Zidane are now understood to be focusing on Espanyol’s Marc Roca, with the report claiming the LaLiga giants are considering making a move in the next few days.

The 22-year-old midfielder made 40 appearances for Espanyol last season, mainly in a central defensive midfield role.

Roca is under contract until 2022, and Mundo claim Espanyol are not prepared to accept any bid lower than their asking price of £37million for Roca.

Real are apparently not keen to meet that valuation and are more willing to offer players in exchange to drive down the price.

Roca was named in Spanish U21 line-up that defeated Germany in the final of the European Championships this summer and Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for the player.

SPOX though report the €40million release clause is currently too high for Bayern.
