Real Madrid interest intensifies in midfielder linked to Liverpool, Man City

Spanish Giants Real Madrid are set to do battle with Liverpool and Man City after turning up the heat in their pursuit of Napoli’s Spanish international Fabian Ruiz, according to a report in the Spanish media.
The midfield schemer who has broken into the Spanish first-team in 2019 has been a top performer in Naples since his arrival from Real Betis in 2018, including a pivotal performance in the Italian club’s recent Champions League victory over Liverpool.
A host of Europe’s top clubs have registered interest in the 23-year-old with Liverpool and Man City leading the way from the Premier League’s perspective.
The interest sparked reports in the Italian media that Napoli were set to slap an enormous €120m price tag on the head of Fabian, with hopes high of retaining one of their most valuable assets.
Now, a report from Spanish outlet AS (via Goal.com) claims that European heavyweights Real Madrid are the latest to join the queue of potential suitors for the midfielder.
The report states that: “Negotiations [with Real Madrid] are dependent on if the midfielder signs a new deal with Napoli”, with the player “not desperate to force a departure from the club” as he seeks to show his gratitude to manager Carlo Ancelotti for the faith he has shown in him.
The article goes on to say that Fabian is “looking ahead to next summer’s Euros with his role as a guaranteed starter at Napoli furthering his case for a Spain spot.”
All indications are, therefore, that it would take an offer Napoli simply can’t refuse for one of Europe’s powerhouses to prise Fabian away from Naples.
Meanwhile, an ex-Man Utd marksman has admitted it is “painful” to see Liverpool flying so high as of late.
