Real Madrid plot use of loophole offering ‘great advantage’ in Spurs raid

Real Madrid believe that a deal to sign Harry Kane could be easier than trying to sign Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland, according to a report.

Los Blancos are supposedly targeting a top new striker this summer to be Karim Benzema’s long-term successor. The 33-year-old is enjoying another strong season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions so far this season. However, his contract expires next summer and it remains unclear if he will pen fresh terms.

As such, Madrid have a number of top forwards on their radar, with Haaland, Mbappe and Kane among them.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Mbappe and Haaland of Borusia Dortmund look set to battle for the Ballon d’Or in the near future; the pair have become two of the most coveted strikers in the world.

Kane, meanwhile, turns 28 in July but stakes his own claim as one of the world’s best forwards.

Furthermore, Cadena Ser claims that Madrid could favour a deal for the England captain because of difficulties with signing Haaland and Mbappe.

Haaland, 20, has shown explosive form this term, scoring 33 goals. However, trying to sign him would also mean working with his infamous agent, Mino Raiola.

The Italian proved part of the reason why Manchester United backed away from his star client before he moved to Dortmund.

The Athletic's David Ornstein says Harry Kane would like to leave Tottenham but a transfer is unlikely to happen due to the high transfer fee which would be involved in any deal.

Meanwhile, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has already been an outspoken figure over Mbappe‘s future.

The 22-year-old’s contract expires next summer and he has yet to make a decision on his future. However, the club president insisted (via Goal) that the striker will “stay forever”.

Advantage for Madrid with Kane deal

In contrast, Kane‘s brother Charlie took on the role as the striker’s chief intermediary in 2018 (via the Evening Standard).

As such, Cadena Ser claims that the 27-year-old has no ‘other intermediaries’ – apart from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy – who would involve themselves.

What’s more, the presence of these other figures would make the operations for Haaland and Mbappe ‘considerably more expensive’.

Therefore, Madrid could yet use this ‘great advantage’ over Kane’s representatives to their disposal.

Nevertheless, a deal to sign Kane would cost upwards of £100million.

The Three Lions star has scored 27 goals and assisted 16 others in 40 appearances for Tottenham this season.
