Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reportedly warned Cristiano Ronaldo he would buy Lionel Messi if he left the club.
According to France Football, the Real chief told Cristiano that he would buy Lionel Messi for €200 million if the forward left to join PSG.
The magazine claims that, in a secret text message sent to a friend back in 2012, Ronaldo revealed this desire to join the Ligue 1 side.
He reportedly felt that a move to PSG would increase his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or, a similar motive to the one which saw Neymar leave for the French capital last summer.
When the Portugal star told Perez in a meeting, the Madrid chief reportedly warned him that he would activate Messi’s Barcelona release clause, if he could find a club willing to pay €200million for the former Man Utd man.
However, no move to Paris ever materialised, and six years on Ronaldo is still plying his trade with Real, winning four Ballon d’Ors since the reported conversation took place.
