Real Madrid star gives new twist on Neymar future

Luka Modric has given fresh impetus to the rumours linking Neymar to Real Madrid.

The two stars faced off against each other as Brazil beat Croatia 2-0 at Anfield yesterday, a game in which Neymar scored the opening goal.

After the game, the pair swapped shirts, and Real midfielder Modric was seen telling Neymar, “We’re waiting for you.”

Neymar joined PSG in a world-record transfer last summer, but could look to move on if the French league proves to be not stimulating enough.

Real Madrid have been linked with giving the Brazilian forward a return to La Liga, where he previously scored 105 goals in 186 games for Barcelona.

PSG brought in Neymar as part of their efforts to challenge for the Champions League trophy, but they were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Real.

The futures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale at the Bernabeu are shrouded in uncertainty, so the club might be forced to look for new attackers.

Real President Florentino Perez sees Neymar as an ideal signing, and could look to sign him either this summer or next year.
