Real Madrid will try and tempt Liverpool to part with Sadio Mane this summer, claims a report.
The Sunday Express believe that new Real boss Zinedine Zidane is hoping to add Mane to his new-look squad, in exchange for Marco Asensio.
Zidane is apparently prepared to allow the Spanish midfielder to leave the Bernabeu with the report claiming Jurgen Klopp is a fan of Asensio.
Mane’s Champions League heroics have alerted Zidane, who wants to add him to his new frontline of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Rodrygo, but Klopp is unlikely to entertain any such proposal – if true.
Earlier this month AS claimed the LaLiga giants had set an asking price in the region of £80-88m for Asensio with Liverpool, Spurs and Manchester United all understood to be interested.
ESPN recently stated that Klopp could revive his pursuit of the Spain international, who may jump at the chance to play under the German and help take his career to the next level.
In May though Asensio’s post on Instagram hinted that he has no intentions of leaving the Bernabeu this summer, and the latest report in the Express has little to convince us that he may be heading for England this summer.
“A complicated season, which has been full of difficulties, has finished. It was far from the level that our marvellous fans deserve,” the Spaniard said.
“We will pick ourselves up, we will get better and we will give our all so that Madrid fans will be able to enjoy their team again next season [as we look to] return your unconditional support and love.
“We promise to fight with renewed energy for every cup until the end.”Madrid always comes back. Hala Madrid!”
