Real Madrid’s 4-2 Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid has convinced them to move for a star Premier League defender, a report claims.

Manager Julen Lopetegui stressed Real Madrid “have to improve in all facets” after their first competitive match under his management saw them suffer an extra-time defeat to bitter rivals Atletico Madrid.

“We are not happy and the negative is that we have conceded four goals and this is not normal. This will have to be improved, without a doubt,” he stated after the game.

According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Wednesday night’s showing has persuaded Lopetegui to move for fellow Spaniard Marcos Alonso.

Thibaut Courtois has already made the move to the Bernabeu from Stamford Bridge, while Eden Hazard keeps flirting with a move to Madrid too.
