Real Madrid watch on as Man Utd prepare exorbitant deal for €150m star

Paul Pogba will demand a double-your-money salary if he is to sign a new contract at Manchester United, according to reports.

The World Cup-winning midfielder will be out of contract at Old Trafford in 2021, meaning United face a tough decision over whether to sell their all-time record signing, or extend his stay with the hope that he will rediscover his best form.

If  he does not renew, there is no shortage of interest in Pogba from abroad, with Real Madrid seemingly the front-runners for his signature.

According to Diario Madridista, Pogba’s agent, the controversial Mino Raiola, is demanding that United raise his salary to €35m (around €600,000-per-week) in order for him to accept a new contract.

The Spanish source admits that would be an “exorbitant” amount, even though United are willing to offer him an extension.

It is claimed that manager Zinedine Zidane has requested that Madrid go back in for his compatriot, as he looks to strengthen his midfield. Pogba is also open to the switch, meaning he could snub any renewal offer to try and force through a move next summer.

The report points to the tactics Madrid used to sign Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard from Chelsea – waiting until they only had one year left on their contract until making an irresistible offer.

Pogba won’t come on the cheap, though, with United’s stance over the summer being that he was not for sale for any less than €150m.
