Real Madrid increasingly worried over Gareth Bale remaining at Tottenham

Real Madrid are reportedly concerned that Gareth Bale’s loan deal at Tottenham may be cut short, which could affect their summer transfer business.

Bale has only featured in 11 of Spurs’ 23 matches in all competitions since arriving on loan from the Spanish giants.

The Wales winger has failed to convince Jose Mourinho that he is worth a regular place in the side, with the Portuguese still having some concerns over his fitness levels.

The Daily Mail reports that Real had hoped that the 31-year-old could revive his career in north London. The idea was for him to turn his loan into a permanent switch. That way Real could trim £650,000-a-week off their wage bill.

Real boss Zinedine Zidane wants to splash the cash in 2021, having not added to his squad last summer.

Outstanding forwards Erling Braut Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are both on Real’s radar, with the latter likely to cost around £200million.

The Spanish giants would be able to entertain big deals, if they could offload Bale. However, at this stage that appears very much up in the air.

Bale, who is currently sidelined with a calf injury, has a contract at the Bernabeu until June 2022.

He has previously stated that he would be happy to extend his stay in north London. But, unless he can find some of the form that turned him into a world superstar, he could be disappointed.

Eriksen keen on Spurs return

A surprise LaLiga option has emerged for Christian Eriksen, but a report claims that his preferred choice is a return to England.

The Denmark international will be on the move in January after Inter Milan decided to put him up for sale.

Eriksen has struggled to adapt to life with Inter with Serie A, after signing from Tottenham last January. Indeed, he has failed to notch a single goal or assist in 13 appearances for the Italian giants this season.

Arsenal and PSG are both keen on a deal for the 28-year-old. But reports on Monday suggested Real Madrid are also keen.

The same report, however, claims that Eriksen would prefer a move back to Spurs. Read more…
