Mamadou Sakho: In demand

Liverpool want a ‘substantial fee’ for frozen-out defender Mamadou Sakho, but will allow a loan move closer to the end of the transfer window.

That is the claim made by the Liverpool Echo, who believe Southampton, West Brom, Crystal Palace and Swansea are all keeping an eye on the French international’s situation.

The Reds paid a reported £18million for the central defender back in 2013 but has not featured after he was sent home during their pre-season tour of the US by manager Jurgen Klopp, who revealed that there is no way back for him.

“Everything is clear, the situation is set. All the things are clear and on the table.” Klopp said when asked about Sakho at his latest press conference.

Sevilla and Galatasaray are also said to be interested in signing Sakho, but Liverpool are hoping to get the Frenchman off the books permanently and will only consider loan moves as a very last resort.
