Report reveals how Pogba form inspired by masterstroke Man Utd decision
Darren Fletcher’s promotion into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s coaching staff has directly led to Paul Pogba’s recent Manchester United form, according to a report.
Former United midfielder Fletcher only returned to the club in a youth coaching role in October.
However, after impressing with the Under-16s, he moved straight up to the first team earlier this month. As such, he has played a key role alongside head coach Solskjaer and assistants including Mike Phelan.
Solskjaer said upon Fletcher’s move that his “very many good opinions about football” would only benefit the senior players.
Indeed, The Sun now claims that the 36-year-old is already having a telling influence.
But while Fletcher’s know-how is helping push all of United’s midfielders to the ‘next level’, Pogba has reaped the most rewards of any player since his arrival.
The Frenchman is learning more about the defensive side of his game and recent statistics prove it is working.
Pogba has made more recoveries, played more passes and completed as many challenges as Fred since Fletcher signed on 18 days ago.
The Sun adds that Fletcher is already proving ‘immensely popular’, especially with Pogba.
But as well as his defensive abilities, Pogba has flourished in an attacking sense in recent weeks.
He has scored two goals in three Premier League matches. What’s more, those two strikes have won United six points against Burnley and Fulham, respectively.
Fletcher’s fellow ex-United midfielder Owen Hargreaves raved over the midfielder’s form after the win over Fulham.
He also highlighted how Pogba has “everything” to his game and only needed to become more settled to flourish.
Man Utd, Liverpool blow in defender race
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s CEO has hinted that he is thinking of signing defender Dayot Upamecano.
The RB Leipzig centre-back has announced himself as one of Europe’s most promising defenders with his displays in recent seasons.
Indeed, he has supposedly attracted the attention of Liverpool and United. However, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has hinted at a deal of his own.
