Laurent Koscielny: Wanted by Man City and Marseille

Arsenal are evaluating what disciplinary action to take against Laurent Koscielny after he disobeyed team orders, a report claims.

The Gunners stunned supporters by stating they were ‘very disappointed’ with Koscielny for ignoring their ‘clear instructions’ to join the squad in the United States this week.

The Frenchman now faces disciplinary action and could be stripped of the Gunners captaincy over the incident.

The Daily Mirror claims that Koscielny, who has one year to run on his existing deal at the Emirates, was ‘upset’ over having to potentially take a ‘substantial pay cut’ if he accepted Arsenal‘s offer of a new two year deal.

His poor injury record meant that the Gunners were only willing to offer a ‘lower basic salary’ and ‘performance-related pay based on appearances’.

Koscielny, who has a three year contract offer on the table from Bordeaux, instead wanted a 12 month contract extension to his £120,000 a week deal.

The 33-year-old was ‘left fuming’ with the offer, which he rejected, and insisted that the club allow him to return back to France with Bordeaux.

The Daily Mirror adds that Koscielny refused to train with the rest of his team-mates on Monday after the row with the club reached ‘boiling point’.

Granit Xhaka is the favourite to take his captain’s armband and the centre-back will probably face a fine for failing to travel with the rest of the squad on their tour to the United States.

The report continues by saying that Arsenal ‘are now making him report up every day, train with the under-23s while the club are in the United States.’
